Auto Annotation allows you to automatically annotate an unannotated or partially annotated sequence by scanning it against a folder of your favorite "curated" sequences.
- Open up your sequence and go to DATABASE | AUTO ANNOTATE SEQUENCE...
- Select a folder containing your curated annotated sequences.
- Change the options in the middle panel or accept the defaults.
- If you wish to also annotate point features, then ensure this is turned on in the third panel.
- If you wish to also modify existing features to change their graphical attributes, change the bottom drop down menu to 'Replace Features and Qualifiers for Existing Features. However, if you wish to just create new features then leave the setting to be "Leave Existing Features and Qualifiers Unchanged". You can also just modify existing features by selecting "Replace only Graphics for Existing Features.
- Click OK.
You will be presented of a summary of what features have been found and modified.
A "duplicate" is any feature of a type that has the same start and stop as another feature of the same type, regardless of qualifiers. If there are two CDS features that have the same start and stop, they are considered to be the same even if they have different qualifiers, descriptions etc..
