The Retrieve and Open command is only enabled when a Description List window (containing the results of a database sequence alignment) is the frontmost window AND a section of text containing a locus name within this window has been selected. The Retrieve and Open command enables you to extract the selected sequence(s) from Entrez and into a MacVector editing window(s), where it can be analyzed, edited, or saved to disk. To retrieve sequences to a window
1. Make the Description List window active.
2. Select the sequences of interest in the description list.
3. Choose Database | Retrieve and Open.
All selected files are placed in their own sequence window.
If hits from a previous Retrieve and Open are still open then subsequent selections must be of a new set of hits.
