Editor tab

The main sequence editor allows you to directly edit or create a sequence.

The following buttons are unique to the Editor tab

- The blocking control is a horizontal slider. Drag the control with the mouse to change the number of residues in a block.

- You can view a nucleic acid sequence in the Sequence window as a single- or double-stranded molecule. Click the STRAND button to toggle between the two representations.

- You can also display 3 or 6 frame translations of the main sequence again using the STRAND button.

- You can represent features directly on the sequence using the Transformations function.

Even if you do not have visible features in the Editor triple clicking on the sequence will select any entire feature that is present at that location on the sequence. Triple clicking on gaps between segmented features will also select that entire feature.

You can quickly select sequence in the editor with the Range Selector. Type in a start and stop of a region separated by a colon (e.g. "300:350" will select bases 300 to 350 of a sequence). Then type ENTER or ESCAPE to move to the Editor and view the selection.

Triple clicking with the mouse will select the entire feature at that point in the sequence (even if no features are visible). If no features exist at that point nothing is selected.

You can increase or decrease the font size in the Fonts Preferences, the OPTIONS | FONT menu or by using the [CMD] + [-] or [CMD] + [+] keyboard shortcuts.
