Segment map panel

The segment map panel controls the appearance of the segment map. This map is only available when a linear map is displayed following a restriction or proteolytic enzyme search, or a nucleic acid or protein subsequence search.

TO MODIFY the global segment map appearance

  1. Choose Options | Default Symbols NOTE: If a sequence window, map window or results window is active, you must hold down the option key before making the menu selection. The Symbol Editor dialog box is displayed.
  2. Select the Segment Map tab.
  3. If you want the segment map visible by default, select the Visible check box.
  4. Choose the color and thickness of the horizontal lines, by selecting from the Color and Thickness drop-down menus in the Horizontal Line Style panel.
  5. Choose the color and thickness of the vertical cut lines, by selecting from the Color and Thickness drop-down menus in the Cut Line Style panel.
  6. To alter the appearance and position of the map labels, do the following in the Label panel:

    - choose the label color from the Color drop-down menu

    - choose the position of the label from the At End drop-down menu

    - choose the font style, size and weight from the Style drop-down menus

  7. Choose the position of the segment map (above or below the cut map) from the Level drop-down menu.
  8. To make changes permanent, do one of the following:

    - select OK to save the changes you have made and close the dialog box

    - select Apply to save the changes you have made, leaving the dialog box displayed

    - select Cancel to discard all changes made

    - select Defaults to revert to the MacVector default values.
