The Show ProofReader command is enabled whenever a sequence window is the frontmost window. It displays a floating palette for replaying sequence data. The pushbutton controls on the iPod representation enable you to select a range of residues that are then read back to you by a digitized voice. Use the menu button to specify the sex of the voice, to control the speaker volume and playback speed. As each residue is read, it is deselected. Note that this floating palette is only visible when the frontmost window is a sequence editing window (either a protein or nucleic acid) and MacVector is the foreground application.
When the tape recorder is visible, this command changes to Hide ProofReader, which enables you to close the floating palette. You can also close the tape recorder by clicking in its close box.
